  • The Italians Rino Muradore/Cristina Delbello win the classification for historic vehicles in their Ford Escort RS 2000 MKII
  • Federico Laurencich/Alberto Mlakar (ITA) take first place in the Club Championship classification in the Peugeot 106 Rallye

(Munich, April 29, 2025) For the first time on the Mitropa Rally Cup (MRC) calendar, the Rally Poreč (25-27.4.2025) in Croatia started as the 3rd event in the 60th anniversary year of the MRC. Initially, it looked like a three-way battle between the Slovakian team of Robert Kolčák/Julius Lapdavský (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2), the Slovenian pairing of Ivan Hrženjak/Rok Gomizelj in the Hyundai i20 N Rally2 and the fast Italian Federico Bottoni and his co-driver Sofia Peruzzi in the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. However, the Italians were already more than a minute behind at the end of the first day.
The tracks were quite dirty due to the rain of the last few days. This demanded a lot from the riders. On the second day, Kolčák and Hrženjak both set two fastest times, but Robert Kolčák triumphed on the finish ramp with a 13.1 second lead over Ivan Hrženjak on the podium. With this result, Kolčák also takes the lead in the standings. Federico Bottoni, who is very fast in his home country, had to settle for third place in this rally on the Adriatic. "I struggled to find my rhythm at the start. After a few adjustments to the set-up of our car, things went better. We are satisfied with the result here," said the 36-year-old Italian.
In the classification group for historic cars, a duel broke out between the Austrians Thomas Klösch/Thomas Wastian (Opel Kadett GT/E) and the Italians Rino Muradore/Cristina Delbello in their Ford Escort RS 2000 MKII. They alternated several times in the lead of the historic cars, and it was only at the end that Muradore was able to secure victory with a narrow 12.1-second lead after setting three fastest times. Third place went to his compatriot Alessandro Pluz in a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, 3:21.0 minutes behind.
MITROPA RALLY CUP 2025
The German team of Martin Kainz/Melanie Kalinke (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) initially dominated the MRC Internal Club Championship. But then, on Sunday morning, a small mishap had a big impact. After a small slip, he touched a bridge, damaged a wheel and had to retire. The Italian team Federico Laurencich/Alberto Mlakar benefited from this. With their Peugeot 106 Rallye, they won with a lead of 41.7 seconds over the Hungarians Gábor Zsebe / László Mohácsi jun. in their Škoda Felicia. Third place, more than 2 minutes behind, went to the Austrians Alfons Nothdurfter and Christian Roschker in a Ford Fiesta Proto.
