Mark Škulj/Pia Šumer win the 40th anniversary edition of the Tiki Rally Velenje

  • The 21-year-old Slovenian Mark Škulj and co-driver Pia Šumer in the Citroën C3 Rally2 confidently won the 4th round of this year's Mitropa Rally Cup
  • Alois Nothdurfter/Manfred Cerny (AUT) in the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth won the classification for historic vehicles according to Appendix K
  • The German team Martin Kainz/Natalie Solbach-Schmidt (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) won the Club Championship classification with a start-finish victory

(Munich, Mai 25, 2025) The Tiki Rally Velenje (May 22-24, 2025) began with a thunderclap: 21-year-old Mark Škulj not only entered this year's Mitropa Rally Cup (MRC) literally at the last minute, but also set the fastest time in the Citroën C3 Rally2 on the first special stage. And that was not to be the end of it: From a total of 11 special stages, the young Slovenian set 8 more fastest times and thus sovereignly won the 4th race of the Mitropa Rally Cup 2025.
The second-placed driver, Hermann Gaßner Jr. with co-driver Ursula Mayrhofer in a Renault Clio Rally3, could do nothing against this start-finish victory. But at this rally, Gaßner Jr. from Upper Bavaria once again managed to break into the phalanx of the much more powerful Rally2 vehicles. He also set the best time on 2 special stages and was more than satisfied with his position at the finish. The Slovenian pairing of Ivan Hrženjak/Rok Gomizelj in a Hyundai i20 N Rally2 finished in 3rd place.
The competition for historic vehicles was exciting. The two Austrians Alois Nothdurfter (Ford Sierra RS Cosworth) and Thomas Klösch (Opel Kadett GT/E) and the Italian Rino Muradore (Ford Escort RS 2000 MKII) took turns setting the fastest times on the special stages. But as early as Saturday morning, the Alois Nothdurfter/Manfred Cerny team pulled away in their powerful Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and clearly won this classification group ahead of their Italian rivals Rino Muradore/Alex Petrigh by a good minute and a half. Thomas and Sandra Klösch completed the podium in 3rd place.
German Martin Kainz and his co-driver Natalie Solbach-Schmidt (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) once again won the internal classification of the Club Championship. He took the lead from the very first special stage. Although the Italian team Cristian Terpin/Selena Ziani in the Renault Clio RS managed to set the best time on 5 of 11 special stages, Kainz still had his nose in front at the finish with a lead of 5.4 seconds. Third place went to Federico Laurencich with co-driver Alberto Mlakar (ITA) in the Peugeot 106 Rallye.
AMTK Velenje organized the rally for the 40th time this year. Together with the 60th season of the Mitropa Rally Cup, the organizers, participants and the Mitropa Cup Committee were able to celebrate this 100th anniversary in style with the award ceremony.
