(Munich, April 6, 2025) With the traditional 47th Laser Hero Lavanttal Rally powered by Dohr Wolfsberg in Carinthia (11-12.04.25), the Mitropa Rally Cup (MRC) is entering its second round this year. A total of 78 teams have registered to take part in what is probably Austria's oldest rally sport event. The Mitropa Rally Cup has 27 teams registered from seven nations - Italy is represented by 8 teams, followed by Hungary with 5 teams, Austria, Slovenia and Germany with 4 each, Slovakia and Switzerland are represented by one team each.
In the classification for vehicles according to the current FIA regulations, 13 participants will start, led by Hermann Gaßner Jr./Ursula Mayrhofer (DEU/AUT) in a Renault Clio Rally3 (start number 7). They will be followed by the Slovakian crew of Robert Kolčák/Julius Lapdavský in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 (starting number 8). Seven-time Mitropa Rally Cup winner Hermann Gaßner sr. and co-driver Karin Thannhäuser in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X R4 with start number 11 will be chasing points for this year's championship classification.
In the MRC classification for historic vehicles according to FIA Appendix K, 8 teams will take part in the race. Italian Rino Muradore and his co-driver Cristina Delbello, the current championship leader, will be competing in the Ford Escort RS 2000 MKII. Tyrolean Alois Nothdurfter with co-driver Walter Münch (DEU) in the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and the local team Thomas and Sandra Klösch in the Opel Kadett C GT/E complete the first three starters in this classification group.
The leading team in the championship, Florian Auer/Elke Irlacher (DEU), will also be chasing points in the internal Club Championship with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII. A total of 5 registered teams will take on the special stages in the category for non-homologated vehicles.
In this race, which is also part of the Austrian Rally Championship, the participants will start at 2.00 pm on Friday. The winners will be determined on a total of 13 special stages over 158 timed kilometres. The finish is on Saturday at 6.00 pm at the event hall in St. Stefan near Wolfsberg.
