(Munich, March 20, 2025) On 28.3. the Mitropa Rally Cup (MRC) starts into its 60th season with the Rebenland-Rallye in Southern Styria. Of the total of 81 participating teams, 32 teams are enrolled in the Mitropa Rally Cup.
In the classification for vehicles according to the current FIA regulations, 14 participants will start, including the winners of the Mitropa Rally Cup classification at this rally last year, Albert von Thurn und Taxis with co-driver Jara Hain, who will take to the track in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 with starting number 6 in the middle of the phalanx of the Austrian rally elite.
In the MRC classification for historic vehicles according to FIA Appendix K, 9 teams from the Mitropa Rally Cup will be competing for points. This category will be led by Tyrolean Alfons Nothdurfter and his German co-driver Walter Münch (Ford Sierra RS Cosworth), followed by the strong Italian Rino Muradore with co-driver Alex Petrigh (Ford Escort RS2000).
In the internal Club Championship category, reigning champion Martin Kainz and co-driver Melanie Kalinke from Germany will once again be chasing points with start number 22. A total of 9 registered teams will take on the 16 special stages in the vineyards in the category for non-homologated vehicles.
The organizers Irmgard Renner and Mayor Erich Plasch from Leutschach are looking forward to the start of the participants in this race, which is also part of the Austrian Rally Championship. The rally starts on Friday at 13:30. On a total of 16 special stages on 163 special stage kilometers, the winner is expected on Saturday evening at 7:00 pm at the finish line of the wine village Leutschach near the Slovenian border.
